Clients and counselors/therapists can meet in an online, video streaming capacity without having to be in the same physical location. DACC utilizes thera-LINK to provide this service for our clients/patients.
In a short answer, YES! DACC uses thera-LINK who have been providing HIPPA and HITECH compliant services since 2013. All of their staff are HIPAA trained and certified. In addition, they have 256 bit AES encryption end to end on their video services. thera-LINK's PHI (Patient Health Information) is protected in all instances.
You can use a PC, Mac, Android, iPhone, or iPad with thera-LINK. On a PC, Mac, and Android, you just need either the Chrome, Firefox, or Safari browser (Android works better with Chrome). On an iPhone or iPad, you can use Safari as long as it's a newer device (12.2 and newer). If older, you just need to download the thera-LINK app first.
The biggest limitation on a phone or tablet is the size of the screen. If you are comfortable holding/propping a phone or tablet for an entire session, then it's a solid experience. You are not able to share your screen when using a phone or tablet. The other concern with a phone is just ensuring you are connected to wifi and not using the mobile carrier's data as this can cause high data usage on your phone bill and also provide a less consistent overall experience with occassional video glitches.
Yes, screen sharing is available by all parties unless on an iPhone or iPad. Screen sharing allows you to select from sharing your entire screen (this means participants see everything on your computer) or to selecting a specific app or program to share. We recommend using the second option as much as possible to prevent accidental exposure to too much information.

If you are ready to begin treatment and prefer to do remotely, we will set up your appointment through thera-LINK and after you have set up your account on your PC or mobile device, we will upload the intake forms and an email will be sent to you directing you to login to thera-LINK. Once you login to your thera-LINK account, you will find the documents for review. Unfortunately, thera-LINK does not have an electronic signature platform, therefore, you will need to print the documents, read the documents, and sign the documents. They can be rescanned and uploaded back into thera-LINK.
We use the system 'Stripe' to process payments online which is secured and encrypted. Per the service fee schedule that was reviewed during your intake appointment and our policy for payments and group attendance, payments are accepted in a pay-as-you go system. However, a payment does need to be made every 2-3 groups you attend. Policies will remain in effect regarding progress notes for the court systems or attorneys.
